What is Hot Potatoes?
Hot Potatoes is a point redemption program offered to horticultural growers in Canada. To qualify, growers must purchase participating horticultural products from Bayer CropScience and/or Dow AgroSciences. Click here for eligible products.
Isn’t Hot Potatoes only for potato growers?
Not anymore. Hot Potatoes began as a reward program available to potato growers. Now we’ve expanded the program to include a wide variety of horticultural crops and many products from Bayer CropScience and Dow AgroSciences.
How long is the program active?
The Hot Potatoes Program runs for two years. The 2010-2011 program is active from November 1, 2009 until September 30, 2011.
I am a 2008-2009 Hot Potatoes member. Do I have to register for the 2010-2011 program?
No, you are automatically registered in the 2010-2011 program.
How do I become a member of the Hot Potatoes Program?
You can become a member of the Hot Potatoes program by filling out the online form.
How does Hot Potatoes work?
The program is simple. For every $1 spent on qualifying horticultural crop protection products (based on manufacturer suggested retail price) from Bayer CropScience and Dow AgroSciences, you’re rewarded 1 Hot Potatoes reward point. As your point balance increases, you can redeem your points for cash or save up for the group trip to Portugal.
Can Bayer CropScience and Dow AgroSciences product purchases be combined for Hot Potatoes points?
Yes, however they cannot be combined with other offers from those companies.
When does the program end?
The program is based on the total purchases of qualifying products for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. All reward submissions must be made by November 30, 2011.
What are the qualifying Bayer CropScience and/or Dow AgroSciences products for the 2010/2011 Hot Potatoes Rewards Program?

Can I add the reward points I collected in 2008-2009 to my 2010-2011 reward points total?
Up to 5,000 points may be carried over from the 2008-2009 program. These points will be included in your current point total if you accumulated any carry over points.
Can each member of my family join the Hot Potatoes Rewards Program?
Yes, however there should be one account per farm name. If you make horticultural purchases under multiple farm names, we recommend having one account for each farm.
Can I combine reward points with a family member or friend?
Only immediate family members may combine Hot Potatoes reward points. The Hot Potatoes Rewards Centre must receive a letter from, and signed by all parties, indicating that they wish to combine all available points. Contact the Hot Potatoes Rewards Centre by phone at 1 877-661-6665.
When can I redeem my points for a cash rebate and/or the group trip to Portugal?
You can redeem your points for cash anytime, but can only redeem your points for the group trip to Portugal in 2011. If you redeem your points for cash in 2010, you will be paid on all 2010 points even if the points are not in the system during time of redemption. If you redeem your points for cash in 2011, you will be paid on all 2010 and 2011 points (if you are have not redeemed for cash in 2010) even if the points are not in the system during time of redemption. If you redeem your points for cash in 2011 and did redeem for cash in 2010, you will paid on all 2011 points even if the points are not in the system during time of redemption. If you choose to redeem your points for cash, you can not switch to the group trip to Portugal later on. If you choose to redeem the group trip first, you can redeem your remaining points into cash.
